American Experience

Since I began working on my family’s WWII letters project, I have noticed an increasing interest in WWII memorabilia and family letters in particular. As my research and travels continue to take me to various parts of the United States, I am very excited when I meet other people who have found family war correspondence. Let’s Celebrate National Humor Month, WWII Style

Did you know that April is National Humor Month? I didn’t either as I usually think of April in terms of income tax preparation. Of course, that is no laughing matter unless you are getting a refund! So I was surprised to discover that it was founded forty-one years ago by Larry Wilde, comedian, best-selling author and Director of The Carmel Institute of Humor. March has provided me an exciting opportunity to highlight and celebrate women who were instrumental during WWII the era. As this month ends I want to say, HAT’S OFF to all women-past and present. Women’s work-your work-our work is vital to our county every day. Thank you, women everywhere!

The Unlikely Inventor

During the war years, people from all walks of life were motivated to do something to help their country. For Women’s History Month, I was especially excited to discover several women trailblazers who had made significant contributions to the war effort.
